To the Sope Creek Community -- THANK YOU FOR VOTING FOR SPLOST4
A BIG SHOUT OUT of THANKS...
to all of you who helped distribute the message to vote and to those who voted for ED-SPLOST 4! As a result of your efforts, voters approved $773.3 million for Cobb and Marietta school districts -- to be raised through a continuation of the 1-cent special sales tax. 57% of us voted YES for our schools! See MDJ article about the victory. Victory was not a sure thing. In an economic downturn and with anti-tax sentiment, ED-SPLOST 4's passage was "anything but a given." By approving SPLOST IV, voters approved a Cobb County School District project list valued at $717.8 million. Of that, Sope Creek Elementary is slated for a new gymnasium, a new playground, technology upgrades, a new intercom system, bathroom modifications, new parking and more. Plans for Walton HS include a new replacement facility. A replacement school for an East Cobb middle school is also planned. The Sope Creek Elementary PTA’s mission is to encourage and support a positive school environment with our students, staff, families and community as we strive to be advocates for programs and policies that nurture youth and education. We do this by sponsoring and funding programs, recruiting and mentoring volunteers, and working in collaboration with the Sope Creek administration, staff and teachers.
